VOLUNTEERs for Ella's Race 1 Mile, 5K & 10K at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh.

Volunteer Roles Needed
Registration/T-Shirts
Time – 6:00 am
Duties – Provide bib and shirt to race participants.
- Distribute Race Bibs
- Organized by alphabet in boxes (Last Name, First Name)
- Runners can pick up for other runners
- Can’t Find Bib in Box
- The Bibs can stick together so double check.
- Check under their first name as well as their last name. Could have been switched.
- Ask if they registered under a different name.
- Ask if someone else may have picked it up for them.
- If you still can’t locate their bid, direct them to “Same Day Registration” for resolution.
- Distribute Shirts
- Runners that pre-registered are guaranteed a shirt.
- Runners that registered on race day will not get a shirt at time of registering. They will need to check back after the race at the shirt table. The shirts will be first come, first serve.
- Runners will not be able to exchange sizes until after the race @ shirt table.
Runner Information
- Bibs need to be worn on the front.
- Bibs can be worn under clothing.
- Bibs can’t be read if rolled up and under high density items such as running belts.
- Do not bend or remove the chip from the back of the bib.
- Bibs are disposable and do not need to be returned
Course Monitor
Time – 7:00 am
Age Requirement – The City of Raleigh requires that all Course Monitors be 21 years of age or older.
Items required while on Course (pick up at Volunteer check in)
- Safety Vest – Each course monitor will be required to wear a safety vest. At the completion of the event the vest should be returned to Volunteer Check In tent
- Location Assignment – Maps and location of assignment will be provided at mandatory meeting or via email beforehand if possible.
Duties
- Attend mandatory meeting with Raleigh Police at 7:15 am in North Ridge Country Club parking lot closest to Hunting Ridge and Falls of Neuse
- After meeting, promptly go to your assigned location and be in position by 7:45 am
- DO NOT leave your assigned location until the sweep or Police indicate that the final runner has come through.
- Report any issues to Police or call 911 for emergency situations.
- Return Safety Vest after completion of duties.
Packet Pickup
Time – Friday morning 11-2 at Fleet Feet Sports 8511 Colonnade Center Dr, Friday afternoon 5-8 at Chick-fil-A Falls Village 6701 Falls of Neuse.
Locations – Fleet Feet at 8511 Colonnade Center Dr and Chick-Fil-A at 6701 Falls of Neuse

- Runners can pick up for other runners
- Can’t Find Bib in Box
- The Bibs can stick together so double check.
- Check under their first name as well as their last name. Could have been switched.
- Ask if they registered under a different name.

- New registrants can register on-line, in-person via registration kiosks and paper forms
- Collect registration fee and issue race bib
- Need to have cash box and cash float

Course Water Stations
Time – 7:00 am
Duties – Setup/take down water station and provide water to runners while on course.
- Water
- Fill coolers with water and then use coolers and/or pitchers to fill cups.
- Fill cups no more than half way. Too much water spills on the runner and is hard for them to drink while running.
- When runners are passing, assign volunteers as follows:
- Call out “water” to let runners know water station is coming up
- Hold cups at the brim with your thumb and finger for easy pass off to runners
- Replenish water supply in cups for those handing to runners.
- Water stations are an important element in the race experience, not only for water, but for moral support. Cheer on the runners and keep them motivated!!! Make it fun!!!
- Clean up
- Once the last runner has passed, clean up cups and debris using trash bags and break down the refreshment tables.
- Place tables, cooler, unopened jugs, water hose to the side for pickup.
Set Up
Time – 5:45 am
Duties:
- Set up/take down tables, tents and chairs in the fun zone in North Ridge Country Club parking lot
- Set up/take down signage and other event related items
